CS 12: From spoil tip to fruit orchards: how a community woodland group has reclaimed Sirhowy Valley Woodlands – Sirhowy community woodland

This case study shares the journey of a newly formed community woodland group; Sirhowy Valley woodlands near Tredegar. The woodland area is a reclaimed spoil and refuse tip which was used as a depository for the steel industry and household waste until the 1970s, after which it was reforested. It’s now designated as a Local Nature Reserve.
