Resources to support the development of community tree nurseries across Wales

Since 2020 we have been delivering the CommuniTree project in collaboration with Coed Cadw (The Woodland Trust in Wales).  The Woodland Trust has received £25 million in funds, thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery, to help create, protect, and restore native woodlands across the UK.  The CommuniTree project which guides people in achieving these goals, was made possible through these funds.

Each year we have run training and networking sessions designed to support new and existing nurseries to develop the skills and capacity they need in rode to be able to grow the trees for our future woodlands, and have developed a user friendly resources to help navigate regulatory requirements.

Magu Coed

Part of the CommuniTree project is to develop a tree seed and growing network.  In 2022 we launched the Magu Coed (tree growing) Network – for anyone interested in growing, raising, planting, and looking after native trees in Wales. We have an expanding mailing list of nearly 200 gardeners, foresters, charity, business, council officers, and general public.

Magu Coed WhatsApp groups:

If you would like to get more involved why not join the regional WhatsApp networks to share general information and questions, to swap seeds or meet up regionally.
