Submit your comments: new Wales Rural Development Programme 2014-2020

Posted on March 13, 2014 by

Community woodlands are invited to submit comments for the new Wales Rural Development Plan 2014 -2020 by 14th April 2014.

The Wales Rural Development Plan (RDP) plays a major role in maintaining the viability of Welsh farming and supports the social, economic, environmental and cultural cohesion of rural Wales. Under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), some £110 million is invested annually in rural Wales through the RDP.

The Welsh Government has responsibility for preparing the RDP in Wales. This must meet three European Commission objectives:

  • the competitiveness of agriculture
  • the sustainable management of natural resources and climate action
  • balanced territorial development of rural economies and communities including the creation and maintenance of employment.

You can submit your comments through the current consultation regarding Welsh Government’s strategy and priorities for the delivery of the Wales Rural Development Programme 2014-2020. Comments will inform how Welsh Government design the next RDP for Wales. The new RDP will run from 1 January 2015 to the end of 2020.
