Questionnaire – How do you value and perceive your natural environment?

Posted on December 15, 2015 by

Welsh Government, through the Glastir Monitoring and Evaluation Programme (GMEP), have a project running which is studying how we value and perceive our natural environment, to try and evaluate the impact of land management interventions and to assess whether they improve the quality of the overall landscape.

As part of the work, they are seeking public opinion to help answer the following questions:

Do people like certain landscapes?

What do people like about them?

Why?

This is a follow up exercise to a survey conducted earlier in the year which was of a very general nature, no surprises from the first results, people like mountains, woods and landscapes and dislike roads, buildings and infrastructure like power lines, interestingly conifer forests evoked a very mixed reaction, almost exactly the same number of respondents either loved them or hated them, very few with an indifferent opinion which was a surprise to the authors.

The link below is to a short survey which asks us to compare two landscape photographs which are very slightly different and give our reaction to them.
