Making Local Woods Work.

2018 will be an exciting year for the LlyG Making Local Woods Work supported groups in Wales, here’s just a few of the highlights.  Look out for resource links posted to the Llais y Goedwig Facebook Page and in the newsletter too.

Pembroke C21 will be expanding their willow sales and products and hope to take on more woodland sites to manage with their volunteers and trainees. They hope to be able to purchase some new equipment with the help of a Timber Business Investment Scheme grant.

The Coed Llwynonn/Syrcas-Circus project are kicking off the year with a raft of courses and conferences: from tool sharpening and maintenance in January, a coppice crafts convention in February, Timber frame construction in March and the Outdoor Learning Wales Conference in April. There will also be a Coppice Craft Open day on 28 February – if you would like to exhibit or take part please get in touch with James.

Elwy Working Woods are expanding their contracting services and will be launching new marketing materials – watch this space for a new website, information booklets and brochures as well as new interactive social media content.

Welcome to Our Woods are also branching out into new sites in the Valleys area, and will be recruiting  local residents to train in woodland management to help with their exciting new biomass project.

Finally, the Women of Coedtiroedd Dyfi Woodlands are joining in a women focussed chainsaw training course to enable the group to expand into woodland management.
