LlyG – Staying Connected

Posted on April 29, 2020 by

During this unprecedented time, the Llais y Goedwig board and staff have been working hard to find ways forward.

Here is Maria Wilding, Llais y Goedwig Programme Manager, with a message to members:

Llais y Goedwig is here to support groups through this evolving situation but inevitably there will be changes to how we are able to operate. Most of our funding comes through grants at the moment and we are currently unable to deliver all of our outputs. We’ve had to make the difficult decision to furlough most of our on the ground staff for a short while. It is important to us to support our staff through this difficult time, and the dedicated Llais y Goedwig volunteer board have agreed to use some contingency funding to top-up the 80% furlough scheme while we can.

From the 1st May to the end of June the following staff will be on furlough:

  • Sara, North West Development Officer
  • Hywel, North East Development Officer
  • Liz, Mid Wales Development Officer
  • Cara, South West Development Officer
  • Steve, South East Development Officer

Zena our Network Facilitator and Sasha our Senior Development Officer will continue in their roles to support members by phone and email.

They will in turn be supported by Beki our Programme Support Officer and myself as Programme Manager as we try to navigate our way through these difficult times.

As always, Llais y Goedwig is led by its members, and we need to know how you’re doing and what we can to do help – please continue to keep in touch on Facebook, twitter and via email:

  • Let us know how you are managing to keep yourselves and visitors to your woodlands safe while restrictions are in place
  • Join in with Llais y Goedwig discussions and posts via social media, and send ideas for newsletter articles, blogs or online workshop sessions to Zena
  • Dial in to the first of what we hope will be monthly virtual catch-up sessions – they will be announced on Facebook and by email.
  • Send us suggestions for Community Woodland support going forward – what will we need to do differently in the future? – how can Llais y Goedwig best support groups in these changing times?

Thoughts and best wishes go out to all our members from the staff and board. Staying connected is more important now than ever!
