Llais y Goedwig Event News Summer and Autumn 2019

You may be wondering what’s happened to all the Gathering information from Llais y Goedwig this year, as the annual event and AGM was scheduled to be held early next month?

During the planning stages, Llais y Goedwig have received some really good news that will impact on the future of the organisation and how it will continue to benefit community woodland groups.  There will be an announcement soon about this and what it will mean for everyone going forward.

So the Llais y Goedwig Board have agreed to change the format of the Gathering this year.  It will enable the current team and new members to work together throughout the summer developing some of the ideas that members discussed at last year’s Gathering; to use the time at the Royal Welsh Show and the Eisteddfod to talk to partners and organisations about woodland policy and to formalise a new schedule of work for the next three years.

Autumn Events

The AGM will now take place as part of a Llais y Goedwig conference in mid Wales on the 20th September.  There will be details and a programme sent out in the summer.

At the Anglesey Woodland Festival (28/29 September) Llais y Goedwig will host an evening get-together for North Wales groups and members at Coed Llwynonn.

In October Llais y Goedwig will run one-day mini gatherings in the north and south, hosted by community woodland groups.

Get involved this summer

Llais y Goedwig will be at the Royal Welsh Show hosting the ever-popular community woodland stand in the Forestry Section.  If you haven’t considered attending with your group before why not make 2019 the year for you! It is a great way to showcase your woodland to a national audience and to spend time on the stand meeting members from across Wales, (and there is also Fay’s legendary cake to sustain you).

This year the National Eisteddfod is in Llanwrst, north Wales.  The event is the highlight of the Welsh cultural year and Llais y Goedwig are proud to be hosting a stand again this year for community woodland organisations.  If you are a group that is interested in demonstrating an activity, or lending a hand on the stand you will not be disappointed.  It is a warm and inclusive festival and Llais y Goedwig staff and members always enjoy their time on the Maes.
