We are so excited to invite you to our famous annual Community Woodland Gathering!!  It’s been two years since we could gather in the woods together so we’re going all out to bring the woodland alive for two days on the 17th and 18th September. This year we’re being hosted by our North East Wales community woodland member groups at Coxwood with a visit to the inspiring Maes y Pant.

Here is a little taste of what we have planned…

Practical workshops and demonstrations

  • Collecting and growing on seeds from your own trees
  • Making essential oils from foraged products
  • Willow crafts
  • Apple pressing
  • Charcoal making

Discussions, talks and sharing ideas

  • Managing a woodland for diverse products
  • How to identify and manage Ash Dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) in your woods
  • Community woodlands and the National Forest
  • Next steps for Llais y Goedwig
  • What would you like to discuss? Let us know and we’ll create a space for the discussion

Woodland Marketplace

  • Bring your own products, or information about what you offer from your woodland to show and sell. Some examples so far include Dewis Gwyllt birch sap syrup and Brymbo heritage orchard cider.
  • Prizes for the best and most unusual woodland craft or product!

Fun activities for the kids

  • Firelighting and cooking
  • Archery
  • Fun games and nature trails
  • An adventure playpark on-site!

Camping and food

Cox Wood is made up of several clearings of various sizes which are ideal for camping. Each of the sites are surrounded by woodland and connected by a network of paths.

  • Toilets, kitchen and showers on site
  • Join us to eat together or if you prefer there are bbq facilities in each camping area
  • Coxwood is a flat woodland with wide gravel paths and accessible toilets.
  • So bring your tent and spend the evening by the fire with storytelling and songs!

We’ll be implementing covid good practice during the event and following the latest guidance.

We make a small charge to cover some of the costs with subsidised places for our members.

Bursary support for full members – there are a limited number of travel bursaries available to attend. For more information please contact Zena, Network Facilitator by email: or by phone 01654 700061 / 07535 024677
