Natural Resource Wales, Animal, Plant and Health Agency, Forest Research, Observatree, and Tree Alert are presenting two Wales Tree Health Seminars this coming September in North and South Wales.


September Tuesday 22nd 2015 South Wales (Garwnant Visitor Centre, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 2HT)
September Wednesday 23rd 2015 North Wales (Plas Tan y Bwlch, Maentwrog, LL41 3YU)


10:00 – Tea, coffee & registration

10:30 – Introduction: Andrew Wright, NRW Tree Health Operations Manager

10:40 – Current UK Disease Threats: Dr. Ana Perez-Sierra, Head of Tree Health Diagnostic and Advisory Services, Forest Research

11:00 – Current UK Insect Threats; Dr Nigel Straw, Entomologist, Forest Research (inc OCGW, & explanation of this year’s Elatobium abietinum damage rates)

11:20 – Peripheral Disease Threats (research work on overseas threats) by Dr. Ana Perez-Sierra

11:40 – Peripheral Insect Threats (research work on overseas threats) Dr Nigel Straw (including Agrillus planipennis)

12:00 – P austrocedrae update, Jane Barbrook Animal and Plant Health Agency

12:15 – Reporting Pest and Diseases; an introduction to Observatree and Tree Alert, Dr Ana Perez-Sierra;

12:30 – Teas and Coffee

12:40 – Depart for site. Please bring packed lunch, wet weather waterproof clothing, outdoor footwear and a hot drink. Please ensure your footwear and clothing are free of mud and debris, please also be prepared to clean and disinfect your footwear.

13:00 – Site visit and discussion

15:00 – Close of site visit & depart
