13th April 2016 – FREE training day in woodland skills for working with groups, Aberystwyth

Posted on March 25, 2016 by

Coed Lleol are hosting a FREE (yes free!) training day in woodland skills for working with groups planned for Wednesday 13th April in Coed Allt Derw (near Aberystwyth). Open to all who work with people in the woods, or would like to.

Coed Lleol training

Content: It will include training in using Kelly Kettles, Fire lighting and using and maintaining tools; all in the context of working with groups in the woods, such as the groups that have run in the Actif Woods Wales project in partnership with Mind, Tai Ceredigion and other organisations.

This course will empower you to use Kelly Kettles with your groups.  You will learn about the expectations of different woodland owners and how to provide the relevant documents needed for lighting fires in woodlands. You will also learn how to use basic tools for craft and natural resource collection.  You will learn how to teach others safe craft techniques and how to maintain your tools

Cost: This will probably be the last time we can offer completely free training, as in the new phase of the Actif Woods Wales project there will need to be a small charge for days like this in the future. So make the most of this opportunity and come and get involved! There are 15 places on the course and it is suitable for anyone working or wanting to work with people in the woods, whether or not you have been part of the Actif Woods Wales project.

This will be an outdoors, practical based session, and you will also get a pack of resources to take away with you for use in your work.
Actif Woods Wales will be looking for volunteers to work with groups in the woods in the coming months, and this training would be an excellent start to doing that kind of work, though all with an interest in working with people in the woods are welcome to attend.

Coming? To book a FREE place please email the trainer, Kirsten:Kirsten.manley@dyfiwoodlands.org.uk
