We are pleased to say that we have secured a Next Steps grant of £1994 from Environment Wales. This project is to prepare a bilingual bibliography of climate change publications. This will be made available to members as a USB flash-drive based resource to be distributed at the four Woodland Management Roadshows scheduled for summer 2010 (see Events pages for further details). The intention is that this will begin the process of collating and sifting information so Llais y Goedwig can generate some pragamtic advice to members on appropriate responses to climate change.
Topics to be covered by the bibliography will include:
(a) Predicted changes to woodland structure and function resulting from climate change in Wales
(b) Recommendations for enhancing adaptation and resilience of Welsh woodlands and biodiversity
(c) Contribution of community woodlands to carbon sequestration and as a source of renewable energy and building materials.
A second stage of the project will be to collate experiences and the reaction of members to climate change and current advice from the Forestry Commission, DEFRA and other official and NGO sources.
We are very keen to hear from you if you have any suggestions or views on climate change. Please direct your comments to the blog to the right or on the feedback form on the Contact us page.
NOTE: We can print out selected publications on request for those who don’t have access to a computer.
