One Family Foundation Community Awards – funding for community groups

Posted on June 2, 2016 by

This year the Foundation is making £560,000 available for community groups and causes through its Community Award.

The OneFamily Foundation Community Awards are a national funding competition which is provided and administered by insurance and investments company “OneFamily” (previously known as Engage Mutual and Family Investments).

The OneFamily Foundation wishes to help fund community projects that really matter to its customers and that could make a real difference to the local community throughout the UK.

Although projects must be nominated by a OneFamily customer, community groups can look for a customer to make a nomination on their behalf. A public vote determines the winners.

Awards will either be for £5,000 or £25,000 and can be used to pay for projects that benefit a community and fall into the following categories:

  • Health, Disability and Social Care – We all from time to time need a little help. This category is specifically aimed at providing benefits which can make a real difference in improving the quality of life for communities. This could include projects working with children with learning difficulties, disabled persons or respite care.
  • Schools and Centres of Education – Funding within education is often challenging. This category is intended to support projects that bring structured benefits to those in full time/part-time education. This could include the development of amenities such as play areas, learning spaces or library facilities.
  • Sports and Social Groups – These groups are a great way to enjoy life and share experiences. This category is intended to support groups to grow and develop what they offer, while bringing benefits to their local communities. This could include developing community meeting areas, sporting facilities or equipment.
  • Youth and Affiliated Organisations – Supporting youth and other groups brings social benefits within local communities. This category is aimed at helping organisations develop facilities and services to the maximum benefit of the local community. This could include artistic projects such as drama or music, as well as the integration of young people into all walks of life.

There are two nomination rounds per year.

Round 1 nominations open on 1 June 2016 (midday) and close on 29 June 2016.

The public vote runs from 4 July to 20 July 2016.
