Get Involved with Dewis Gwyllt

We would really like to hear from community woodland groups, volunteers, woodland managers, land-owners and businesses with an interest in sustainably harvested wild woodland products…

There’s a range of different ways to Get Involved in Dewis Gwyllt:

Do you run a Community Woodland Group?

The Woodland Wild Product Advisory Service is being offered by Dewis Gwyllt to help you make the most of your woodland as a source of products and income. There are two strands to this service:

1. Woodland Inventory (on-site)

The inventory will help community woodlands:

  • Catalogue the species present and the potential of the site given changes in tree species and management regime in the woods
  • Quantify the quantities of key resources present and sustainable harvesting levels
  • Profile local foraging activity in the woods

2. Woodland Product Advice

Specialist one-to-one advice is available to discuss your ideas and/or experience of harvesting non-timber forest products, helping your group overcome potential barriers and linking you up with relevant support providers.

Would you like to volunteer?

Could you spare a few days to pick elderflowers, for example, to help your local community woodland group generate vital funds? We would like to hear from you if you’d be interested in volunteer foraging.

Do you own land with trees and hedgerows?

Would you be willing to grant pickers access to your land to sustainably harvest produce, like elderflower and sloes? Offering access to hedgerows and trees could help support your local community woodland group to access vital funds and the opportunity to increase support and raise awareness of the great work they do.

Businesses: Are you looking for new and exciting Welsh ingredients?

We have been working with a number of small businesses on product development. Would you be interested in sampling our produce? Do you favour locally produced, sustainably harvested produce? Would you like to support a social enterprise that reinvests its profits into to safeguarding Welsh woodlands?

Do you have a general enquiry or simply want to know more about Dewis Gwyllt?

We’d love to hear from you! We work in collaboration with a range of different people and organisations.
