Blog: Responding to the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources consultation

Posted on October 5, 2017 by

Llais y Goedwig Chair, David Williams keeps us up to date with the latest responses from the Policy Advisory Group.

Welsh Government have just closed a  major consultation, ‘Taking forward Wales’ sustainable management of natural resources’, it aims to seek views on new regulatory approaches to the sustainable management of natural resources in Wales. Proposals include:

  • promotion of the circular economy
  • nature-based solutions
  • new markets and innovative mechanisms
  • smarter regulation

It is fair to say that it has tried to cover too much in one consultation, but there are major proposals for forestry included, so it was an opportunity for the new LlyG Policy Advisory Group to have a look at the proposals and contribute to a response on behalf of community woodland groups in Wales.  Now we await the next steps from Welsh Government in terms of  proposals taking account of all comments received, which was well over 1000 submissions.

If you would like a copy of the Llais y Goedwig response please email the Network coordinator: liz.mutch@llaisygoedwig.org.uk
