Blog: New Volunteer Toolkit from Environet

Posted on March 23, 2018 by

Environet’s new toolkit is packed full of ideas for getting involved in environmental volunteering and celebrates fantastic projects making a difference in Wales through people like you. The toolkit also includes ideas on how to green up your daily life in the ‘Going Further’ section for those people who want to do more for the planet. In this Blog Environet’s Chloe Jenkins explain more about it.

Could your skills support our natural environment? Find out in our new toolkit!

Many people care about the environment but might be unsure how to make a positive impact. Big issues like climate change, species loss, or plastic marine pollution can stir up debate on social media but it can sometimes seem difficult to turn concern into action.

Environmental volunteering is a great way to start supporting the planet whilst giving back to your local community, and there are many opportunities that can fit into your schedule.

This toolkit is designed to help people into environmental volunteering who might not have thought about it before and promotes the exciting opportunities available from local and national organisations.

In designing this toolkit Environet considered what people want out of environmental volunteering based on their skills, interests, and needs. Some people love getting out in nature, others may be great with technology, and some people really want to help their community.  We wanted to help share the vast range of different opportunities available, which can fit around busy schedules and let people support the environment in ways that they may not have thought about before. We wanted to demonstrate through this toolkit that everyone has the potential to do something positive for our natural environment – from knitting wildlife nests to remote penguin monitoring

The response from community groups so far has been fantastic; everyone has been really enthusiastic about getting involved and we are very excited to showcase some of the amazing projects Wales has to offer.

The toolkit is divided into themes to help people find a project or idea which is right for them:

  • People and Community
  • Practical Action
  • Food and Growing
  • Art and Creativity
  • Digital Technology
  • Healthy and Active

The toolkit also includes ideas on how to green up your daily life in the ‘Going Further’ section for those people who want to do more for the planet. It suggests ways to decrease your carbon, water, and plastic footprints and ongoing campaigns for longer term activities.

Whichever ways you choose to get involved you will be helping to improve our environment for now and future generations.

Allai’ch sgiliau chi gefnogi byd natur? Cewch wybod yn ein pecyn cymorth newydd!

Mae pecyn cymorth newydd Environet yn llawn dop o syniadau i fynd ati i wirfoddoli dros yr amgylchedd ac yn dathlu prosiectau ardderchog sy’n gwneud gwahaniaeth yng Nghymru drwy bobl fel y chi…

Mae’r amgylchedd yn agos at galon llawer o bobl ond efallai eu bod yn ansicr sut i gael effaith bositif. Gall materion mawr fel y newid yn yr hinsawdd, colli rhywogaethau, neu lygredd plastig yn y môr gorddi’r dyfroedd ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol ond weithiau gall ymddangos yn anodd troi’r pryder hwnnw yn gamau ymarferol.

Mae gwirfoddoli amgylcheddol yn ffordd wych o ddechrau cefnogi’r blaned wrth roi’n ôl i’ch cymuned leol, ac mae yna lawer o gyfleoedd a all weddu i’ch ffordd o fyw.

Nod y pecyn cymorth hwn yw helpu pobl i ddechrau gwirfoddoli dros yr amgylchedd sydd efallai heb ystyried hynny o’r blaen ac mae’n tynnu sylw at y cyfleoedd cyffrous sydd ar gael gan fudiadau lleol a chenedlaethol.
Wrth lunio’r pecyn cymorth hwn ystyriodd Environet yr hyn yr hoffai pobl ei gael o wirfoddoli amgylcheddol yn seiliedig ar eu sgiliau, eu diddordebau, a’u hanghenion. Mae rhai pobl wrth eu boddau ym myd natur, mae eraill yn fedrus gyda thechnoleg, ac mae rhai pobl ar dân i helpu eu cymuned. Roedd arnon ni eisiau helpu i rannu’r ystod enfawr o gyfleoedd gwahanol sydd ar gael, a all ffitio o amgylch bywydau prysur ac sy’n galluogi pobl i gefnogi’r amgylchedd mewn ffyrdd nad oeddynt efallai wedi’u hystyried o’r blaen. Roedd arnon ni eisiau dangos drwy’r pecyn cymorth hwn fod gan bawb y potensial i wneud rhywbeth positif dros ein hamgylchedd naturiol – o wau nythod ar gyfer bywyd gwyllt i fonitro pengwiniaid o’ch cartref!’

 ymlaen i ddweud;
‘Mae’r ymateb gan grwpiau cymunedol hyd yma wedi bod yn ardderchog; mae pawb wedi bod yn awyddus iawn i gyfrannu ac rydym yn gyffro i gyd i arddangos rhai o’r prosiectau arbennig sydd gan Gymru i’w cynnig.’

Rhennir y pecyn cymorth yn themâu i helpu pobl i ddod o hyd i brosiect neu syniad addas iddyn nhw:

  • Pobl a’r Gymuned
  • Pethau Ymarferol
  • Bwyd a Thyfu
  • Celf a Phethau Creadigol
  • Technoleg Ddigidol
  • Iach ac Egnïol

Mae’r pecyn cymorth hefyd yn cynnwys syniadau i roi hwb gwyrdd i’ch bywyd bob dydd yn yr adran ‘Mynd Ymhellach’ i’r rheini sydd am wneud mwy dros y blaned. Mae’n awgrymu ffyrdd o leihau’ch ôl-troed carbon, dŵr, a phlastig ac ymgyrchoedd a gweithgareddau mwy hirdymor.

Pa ffyrdd bynnag a ddewiswch i gyfrannu fe fyddwch yn helpu i wella ein hamgylchedd yn awr ac i genedlaethau’r dyfodol!

Mae’r Pecyn Cymorth Gwirfoddoli Amgylcheddol a’n hadnoddau eraill ar Fuddsoddi ym Myd Natur ar gael yma.

I gael gwybod mwy am y pecyn cymorth a sut i’w rannu, neu os hoffech i ni hyrwyddo’ch gweithgareddau a’ch digwyddiadau amgylcheddol, cysylltwch drwy ebostio environet@wcva.org.uk neu drydar @wcva_ec
