LlyG and public consultations
Today (2nd May) is the deadline for submission of responses to the Government’s proposals for a new Single Environment Body for Wales. The final submission on behalf of LlyG members has just gone in and is available as LLyG SEB consultation response. The responses to the main questions went in last week – this is the final version with the addition of a preamble. Thanks to everyone who made inputs to the response.
Don’t forget the next consultation on the Natural Environment Framework closes on the 31st May. This is also important and we’ll get back to you later on this.
Llais y Goedwig national conference and AGM 9th/10th March 2012
The 2012 Llais y Goedwig national conference and AGM was held on the 9th and 10th March 2012 (Friday and Saturday). The presentations, workshops and visits were all very successful and mixed in with learning and fun was serious debate about the future of community woodlands. The next year will be a busy one as LlyG builds its membership and services, looks beyond Wales as it joins a EU project on small woodland enterprises and takes on the responsibility of representing community woodlands in the development of a single environmental body for Wales.
See this page for more info and a full report from the conference can be read here: Llais y Goedwig Conference Report 2012 – Participation

A LlyG Manifesto for Welsh forests
The meeting was held in Mach on the 21st July to start work on a LlyG manifesto. The meeting was attended by 12 people with 3 contributing submitting written ideas and 3 more giving apologies. Further details of what we are doing and Minutes of the 21st July meeting are now available on the ‘Engage with policy’ page. We need to do a lot more work on this quickly so please check back regularly or follow us on Facebook. Use the blog to let us know what you think should go into the Manifesto and contact Jo if you would like to join the Policy group.
Welsh Government Woodland “open for business”

Many thanks to everyone who came to the stakeholder meeting on these proposals in May. Do let us know your experiences with this and your ideas for working with the Forestry Commission.
